Services

Road Maintenance

Lake Andrew Township provides essential services to support the safety, infrastructure, and quality of life for residents, property owners and visitors. Lake Andrew Township maintains all accepted and legally recorded township roads at least eight months of the year.  There are about 28 miles of road, of which about 12 miles is paved.

Seasonal Maintenance includes snow plowing and ice control in the Winter and in the Spring/Summer/Fall:

  • Road grading and gravel spreading

  • Dust control

  • Mowing and ditch cleaning

  • Culvert replacement

  • Tree, brush, and weed control

All township roads have a weight limit. The weight limit is five tons on a gravel road and less than 9 tons per axle on a paved road. Road Weight Restriction Exemption Application.

Fire and Emergency

Lake Andrew Township is served by nearby fire departments that provide emergency response and fire protection services. The township coordinates with these departments to ensure coverage and safety for all residents.

IMPORTANT REMINDERS

Obstructions in the road or right-of-way (ROW) such as parked vehicles, personal items, or planted trees/shrubs can delay or prevent maintenance. These are prohibited under township ordinances. Please review the Ordinances for full details.  If you need to place a septic field or other items in the right-of-way complete a Right-of-Way Application/Agreement by contacting the clerk at: info@lakeandrewtwp.gov.

Please be considerate of pedestrians, bicycles, UTVS and golf carts as well as other drivers by driving safely at all times.

If you have a concern or complaint about road maintenance, we invite you to attend our monthly Board of Supervisors meeting. Preview the calendar for the next scheduled regular meeting.

To ensure safe and effective road access with proper water drainage, Lake Andrew Township requires a Driveway Permit for creating a new driveway access to a township road and/or replacing or installing a culvert.

For questions about the permit process, please contact the Township Clerk at: info@lakeandrewtwp.gov.

Road Bulletins

To report trees down or snow drifts blocking roads, contact the Sheriff’s Office at 320-235-1260 or call the Township Clerk at 320-212-2834.

When clearing driveways of snow, it is unlawful to place snow in the road right of way, even on township roads. Doing so potentially creates a safety hazard for motorists and road crews.

Under MN Statute 160.27 subd. 5, it is a misdemeanor to deposit snow or ice in a road right of way. The law also considers it littering to place snow or ice in a right of way, which is punishable as a misdemeanor - MN Statute 169.42. If an owner or occupant continually violates these prohibitions, in addition to the cost recovery procedures the legislature made available in MN Statute 366.016, the board can also consider contacting the Sheriff's Department for possible action under the criminal statutes.
